I love skincare and beauty. The ritual of cleaning my skin, applying moisturiser. I love how accessible it can be. Yes you could spend silly money if you wanted too; and believe me if I had that kind of money, i would. However even if you only have a couple of pounds disposable income, this will buy you an entry-level red lipstick that will make you smile. I bring you my top ten budget beauty buys.

A light but deeply moisturising cream under a fiver and classic comforting scent. Gentle enough to use on your face but cheap enough to use on your hold body.

Another moisturiser. I've had dry skin my whole life. One to be cautious of if your's in on the oilier side ( although there is a light version) . I use as a day and night moisturiser if my face is feeling irritated or dry. This little green tube is my handbag essential. It also primes, plumps and softens, leaving skin juicy and plump feeling. As with all products on this list. The smell is instantly comforting. Small enough to keep in your handbag for all and any dry skin emergencies

Okay, there are many cheaper spot treatments out there, but they tend to be aimed at the teen market. And if you have clinical acne, save your money and see a dermatologist. But now I'm in my 40s my skin mainly behaves itself. But i still get the occasional spot if I've had a lot of chocolate or around my period. This little gel zaps them in 48 hours. I like that it tingles a little on application so it feels like it's working.

I love a relaxing bath, I'm a firm believer in not spending too much on products that litterally go down the drain. (this applies to shampoo, conditioner and shower gel too.) This little nown brand is a gem. And it smells way more expensive than it is. A little goes a long way. The Lavender Essence is nice too.

I love a facemask. I dream of having the kind of disposable income to justify buying Sisily Black Rose facemask - at just sky of £100 not sure it will ever happen. Again the scent is instantly comforting- to me it smells like grandmar's toilet cleaner, but i mean that as a good thing!

I wash my face with bar soap.( i might use a face oil before it do a double cleanse). Bar soap has minimal nasty additives, cleanses without fuss ( or an exorbitant price tag) and forms the basics of any skincare routine. It would be my desert island must-have. Soap is just the most basic yet lovely beauty item

Again, not exactly pennies, but for me a tube will last me over a year. This little iconic-smelling tube has sooo many uses- on brows and lashes to define and condition. Apply a little on cheekbones to define. use on lids or lips as a gloss, to name just some .
Eylure Dybrow permanent tint for brows £7.49

Eyebrows make your look, get them right, and you don't even need makeup. As a natural mousey blond i feel so much better when my brows (realistically) darker shade. Eyelures shades are natural-looking. Note: although the box says it lasts up to 28 days i tend to need to reapply every 2 weeks or so. WARNING- go no darker than dark brown unless your hair is raven black.
Mascara

As a fair haired girly, mascara is a non-negotiable. But black mascara can look a little harsh. dark looks more natural for blonds and redheads can even get away with burgundy ; not as scary as it sounds. You can't really beat maybelline if your looking for a high street mascara. Their latest offering: Maybelline Tubing Mascara , at £13 is a little more than I'd normally pay, but delivers.

Almost all skincare routines will benefit from a proper toner to exfoliate dead skin cells and improve the health of new ones. The Ordinary is a fantastic entry-level brand if you're serious about skincare and have a little knowledge about what works for your skin type. But don't have money to burn. with this brand, you're paying just for the ingredients, which are front and centre of their no frills packaging. NOTE, if you have sensitive/dry skin got VERY carefully on chemical exfoliants at first, useing the lowest strength of active ingredients only once a week, then gradually building up as desired. A little bit of redness and tingling is normal. Moisturise extra well after you've used, and use LASHINGS of sun lotion on your face if you're going anywhere near the sun.
